Top Democratic 2008 Presidential Candidates

Democratic Presidential Nominee Hillary Clinton is in the lead in the Democratic nomination for the 2008 Presidential Campaign. It is according to the Washington Post-ABC News poll that she was shown as the favorite out of 41 percent of Democrats. This lead gives Clinton double the support of her rivals. Clinton is a former first lady serving in the Senate in her second term. Hillary Clinton is most popular within American politics for her well-known name. Clinton is supported by a national network. Hillary Clinton's accomplishments include her ability to raise as much or more money than any of her rivals, and a résumé of political activity that dates back decades, including six years in the Senate and a reelection victory in November. She has also taken upon many harsh attacks from her critics which shows her dedication and strength within politics. Clinton is in fact ahead on the issues within the economy, but her ability to talk or give plans about the war is quite behind.

Barack Obama, as of now, holds the position as Senator of Illinois and follows the policy in which suggests hope. This hope is that which took him into the spotlight within politics. Obama is very charismatic, positive, and simply straightforward within his speech. His strength and support is in his potential to shape America and to reshape U.S. politics as he campaigns for the White House. Obama lacks addressing Homeland Security, yet is covered in the areas of Iraq and education. His recent accomplishments include working with both Democrats and Republicans in helping working families to get ahead by creating programs such as the state Earned Income Tax Credit, which within three years has produced over $100 million in tax cuts across the state of Illinois.

John Edwards was the former Senator of North Carolina and ran as the Democratic nominee for the Vice President in 2004 and now stands in third place within the Democratic campaign. His weaknesses within the campaign include his constantly changing view about Iraq and he never has much to say on Health and Education. His strength can be seen within issues of economics and his ability in having great charisma and an easy-going speaking style.

Bill Richardson has a long history in the realm of politics in that he has been a stint as U.N. ambassador, and New Mexico's governor. Richardson's strong arguments lie within the issues of Iraq, Health, and Education. His weaknesses within the campaign are those which address or rather what he does not address within the Economy and Homeland Security, and these topics will need serious attention within the upcoming months. In being that he is in fourth place within the campaign it will take much time, dedication, and hard work to come to the top and debate with the top contenders.

I truly believe the DNC nomination will be tight between Clinton and Obama. Both of their political views within the government, aspects on the war, strength in their speeches, and driven personalities will produce great competitiveness within the Democratic party. Hillary Clinton is not only a strong candidate in her opinions, but she is a strong woman in general and this is very evident when listening and examining her speeches. I believe that she will win the DNC nomination and be a strong contender against the Republican candidate. A gut feeling within me says though that there is a bump in the road in the fact that because she is a woman in politics she does not hold this position with absolute certainty because our country may not be prepared to make that leap of a leading woman within politics.
